Yanni Hufnagel continues to build up Nevada basketball program

America’s greatest assistant coach is Yanni Hufnagel. He is Jewish born and raised and is now the assistant coach for the Nevada Wolf Pack. He started his time in Nevada last April, where he is serving alongside coach Eric Musselman. Yanni Hufnagel has been drawn to sports since he was little. Coaching has been his life dream.

Yanni Hufnagel was raised in Scarsdale, New York, where he spent his life reading every book on coaching he could find. As a child, he would use basketball figures to map out plays he learned from his readings. Yanni Hufnagel originally got into basketball by calling games for the local public television station.

He would then move onto becoming the basketball manager at Cornell University. During his time at Cornell for his studies, he earned an opportunity to intern with pro NBA team New Jersey Nets. Following his graduation from Cornell, he was recruited by Oklahoma coach Jeff Capel, who interviewed him and immediately hired him. After Coach Capel recommended Yanni Hufnagel to Harvard, he became the school’s volunteer assistant coach.

On his first day on the job, he immediately went to work recruiting players across the country. He has been praised for being able to convince athletes to join his basketball team’s program. He perfectly sells the school and program to the recruits he meets with. Throughout his time in basketball, Hufnagel has received multiple job offers from top colleges across the country.

Yanni Hufnagel received his bachelor’s degree from Cornell University and later earned his master’s degree from Oklahoma. He has been hired by several of the country’s top-tier schools including Cornell, Oklahoma, Harvard, Vanderbilt, California and now Nevada. He continues to succeed with every school he gets his hands on.

Yanni Hufnagel was recruited to play lacrosse for Pennsylvania State University but later transferred to Cornell. He has managed to become one of the most respected assistant coaches in college basketball.
