Dental Sleep Apnea

‘Obstructive sleep apnea’ is a condition that affects people without regard to status or age. It is however more likely to be health treatment experienced by older people. Overweight individuals are likely to suffer from this owing to the likelihood that fat has pressed their airways. Waist fat and that around the neck can pose serious challenges. Smoking, blood pressure and diabetes make the risks higher for men above 40 years. Men and women should ensure they measure around their necks to ensure they are within the safe measurements advised.

What I Learned Today About Prison Technology

Did you ever stop and think about how our country’s correctional officers are able to monitor the daily threats that arise in our prison systems? When I do I think of tough officers breaking up fights in “the yard.” However, I have no knowledge of the true threats they face. I recently read a PR Newswire article about Securus Technologies that shed some light on how the prison technology company was on the cutting edge of innovation that helps to stop possible threats, often even before they start. The testimonials from Securus clients’ talked about things like how with the technology they could monitor illegal phone calls to contraband cell phones and do things like break up drug rings, be alerted to corrupt employees and monitor calls to find out things that will be invaluable in helping to ensure criminals are locked up for the crimes they committed. The article can be found here.

Securus Technologies is an interesting company, and from my understanding they have grown leaps and bounds by providing technology to prisons that keeps up with the ever-growing digital threats from contraband phones. For example, they provide a technology that monitors and is able to track and pinpoint illegal cell phones that may have been brought to prisoners by other inmates, visitors or even corrupt staff. These cell phones can be a huge threat as they can often connect to wireless networks and open a portal of access that will likely be used for farm.

Securus also offers things like recording of phone calls from these contraband cell phones. This means that correctional facilities now can do more than simply find a phone and take it away, they can monitor what the actual goal of risking sneaking in a cell phone was. This information often helps gather evidence that ensures the guilty person is punished as they should be.

What You Should Know About The Civil Group Named Justice That Works

The rate at which human rights are being abused in different parts of the United States of America gives cause for concern. Arizona has one of the worst reputations with regards to abuse of human rights, civil rights and even immigrants’ rights. The height of this abuse was the illegal arrest and detention of both Michael Lacey and Jim Larkin who are co-founders of Phoenix New Times and Village Voice Media.

These two were picked up illegally in their houses in October, 2007. They were later compensated for the abuse of their rights. Despite what they went through, they dedicated their settlement money to set up Frontera Fund, an organization that funds civil, migrant and human rights groups all over Arizona.

One of the human rights organizations in Arizona is Justice That Works. The organization found out that Arizona spends too much money on incarceration, so they are agitating for a justice that is not built around incarceration. They want a justice that tries to change the mindset of criminals and not justice that burdens the community with the responsibility of feeding criminals on jail term.

The organization was established by Heather Hamel, an attorney in Arizona. The most worrisome issue with current mass incarceration in Arizona is the fact that African American men seem to be the target. It seems justice in Arizona has zero tolerance for black men. Mass incarceration is a problem on its own, that the problem now has racism undertone makes the whole issue more complicated. Learn more about Jim Larkin:

This is what Heather Hamel is trying to change with her organization. The team of Justice that works also includes Viridiana Hernandez, the policy director for Center for Neighborhood Leadership and Ayensa Millan who doubles as a radio show host and an immigration lawyer.

In 2016, Justice That Works launched a plan to build community court in Phoenix with the support of residents of the community. This is because it was discovered that community courts have been able to reduce crime rates and also keep people out of jail thereby saving millions of dollars that would have been spent on incarceration. Read more: Michael Larcey | Twitter and Village Voice Media | Wikipedia

In her bid to discourage mass incarceration, Hamel disclosed the fact that Marywale spends about $30 million dollars every year on incarceration. The money could have been diverted to upgrade schools and also provide better amenities. It can be used to increase access to healthcare.

Heather Hamel has been dissipating her personal time and money into this cause. Michael Lacey and Jim Larkin, despite being locked up for no reason, decided to make efforts towards preventing other people from suffering the same fate by donating the funds towards the same cause. What have you done about it?

It is important that you and everyone you know contributes their quota into this cause. It is not a smart idea to wait until you become a victim of incarceration before you begin to fight it. You may not have enough time to participate in all their activities, but you can donate some funds just to encourage the group. Your donation will definitely be a morale booster to Hamel and her team.

OSI Brings Advanced Plant Design To Poland

Ostroda is a city of about 33,000 in the historic Masuria region of northern Poland and the site of a $36 million state-of-the-art beef processing plant built by OSI Group. It opened operations in 2013.

The plant not only represents the importance which OSI Group places on European Union member countries such as Poland, but also illustrates the company’s ongoing commitment to world-wide sustainability, environmentally-friendly operations — and facilities that employ resource-efficient measure functions.

The Ostroda beef plant is a model for all of the above. It was fitted with water-saving faucets, highly efficient indoor and outdoor lighting using LED technology while also drawing heavily upon renewable energy sources such as wind and solar for power. This is coupled with advanced insulation materials and cutting-edge energy monitoring systems.

Considering its advanced design, it’s not surprising the plant achieved Gold LEED certification, a rating system devised by the United States Green Building Council to determine the environmental performance of a building. Gold Certification is the highest level of certification.

Additionally, the Ostroda plant site used a high percentage of recycled and regional materials in construction, and even incorporated a parking area for ride-share buses and bicycles.

Hamburger produced at the Ostroda location supplies quick-service restaurants, such as McDonald’s, not only in Poland but also the Czech Republic, Slovakia, the Baltic States, Sweden and Finland. While the primary focus of the plant is beef production, the site is geared up to handle other protein product processing as well.

The city of Ostroda was delighted to be chosen by OSI as a location for one of the most modern, energy-efficient and sustainable food processing operations in Europe. The state-of-the-art OSI beef facility replaced an older, aging processing plant. It was a key factor in preserving some 93 jobs for the city at the time of construction. OSI officials predicted plant employment will grow by about 30%.

OSI Group has maintained a presence in Poland since 1992.
